We are sorry to announce that our event De Facto LIVE #3 of 20 January will be postponed until further notice. Those of you who already purchased a ticket will be contacted by the Roode Bioscoop in Amsterdam. We hope to see you soon!
De Facto explores the realm of unrecognized states, fictional countries and curious border zones. A live evening with talks, art and music at De Roode Bioscoop in Amsterdam. Join us!
We will interview Philip Dröge, who wrote a book about Moresnet, a triangular entity bordering the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany in the nineteenth century. What was so peculiar about it, and why did it disappear? Concert pianist and Soviet expert Sara Crombach will tell us about Nagorno-Karabakh, an unrecognized state in the Caucasus, and will play some classical music from this region. What is this # on a stamp of the Nation of Celestial Space? Floor Koomen goes into the details. Ecuadorian artist Oscar Santillan will talk about a vanished place in the Gulf of Mexico: Bermeja Island. Last but not least: a quiz by Suzanne Hendriks.
Thursday 20 January, Roode Bioscoop, Haarlemmerplein 7, Amsterdam.
Bar open 20.00h., start programme 20.30h.
De Facto is a project of graphic designer Floor Koomen and journalist Jorie Horsthuis.
This event is supported by the AFK (Amsterdam Fund for the Arts).
