On Tour

Bar open 19.30, start programme 20.00. Program in Dutch. Free drink after!
Two years after October 7, 2023, and countless acts of violence later, we will seek to create space between the lines that are drawn between Palestine and Israel. Journalist Jorie Horsthuis talks about her visit to the West Bank and Israel and about journalism in the region. Jareach Gilula plays Arabic and Israeli music on her harp, seeking to emphasize what these groups share — even though this is becoming increasingly challenging.
Furthermore, we will take a look at the conflict between India and Pakistan, which recently flared up again. What exactly is the story of that border, and why are young people in particular trying to reach out to each other again? We will talk about this with Aletta André, former India correspondent for NOS and Trouw, who has now settled in Deventer. And imagine a micronation without land, without borders, without passports — just people. Graphic designer Floor Koomen takes us to NUTOPIA, a concept by John Lennon and Yoko Ono. Of course, there will also be a quiz by researcher Suzanne Hendriks on interesting border facts, and you can wave your flags again.
DE FACTO is a project of graphic designer Floor Koomen, journalist Jorie Horsthuis and researcher Suzanne Hendriks.
